Notchers:

Sheet Metal Notcher - Frequently Asked Questions

Is it necessary to adjust the blades of the sheet metal notcher for the cutting of different thicknesses?
No. The cutting system of Simasv machines is self-adjusting and therefore it is possible to cut different thicknesses without the need to create the clearance between the upper and lower blades.
What is the maximum cutting thickness our sheet metal notcher can handle?

The different notching machines available includes the LC series which can cut thicknesses up to 1/4" thick mild steel.
What cutting angle is available?
The fixed angle notching machines can carry out 90° cuts, while the different variable angle notching machines offers cutting angles between 30° and 180°.
Is it possible to cut stainless steel sheet?
Certainly. It is possible to cut sheet stainless steel, although the greater hardness of the material allows the cutting of lesser thicknesses with respect to normal mild steel.
How is the same cutting angle maintained for mass-produced notching works?
Once the cutting angle has been set using the hand wheels it is possible to lock it using the pins on the hand wheels, designed for this very purpose.
Is there an instrument to set a determined cutting depth?
The internal stop bar on the right-hand side of the machine allows the operator to set the desired cutting depth.
Is it possible to process very small pieces of sheet metal?
Yes, it is sufficient to set the lateral mechanical hold-downs on the sides of the head.
Is it possible to adjust the blade stroke and when it would be useful to do so?
The blade stroke can be adjusted using the (optional) stroke limiter set above the shearing head. Stroke adjustment may prove useful when carrying out cuts with a length lower than the entire length of the blade.  This increases stroke speed and production.
There are 15° and 30° blades. When should these be used?
The first are used to make cuts with a total minimum angle of 30° and the second with minimum cuts of 60°.
Do some sheet metal notcher models include a punching option?
The variable angle series offers a maximum diameter of 2-3/8", while the fixed angle series offers a maximum diameter of 1-9/16".
When working in the notching mode how can the punching unit be disabled?
The special selector should be positioned on the cutting unit and the punch-holder must be removed by unscrewing the special ring nuts.
When working in punching mode is it necessary to remove the cutting blades?
No, the machine features double adjustment, one for the notching function and one for the punching function. The blades do not interfere.
